Top best answers to the question «Is australia a day behind america»

What it makes it seem like they're a day ahead is because they are one side of the International Date Line, and we (assuming you're an American) are on the other. In reality, Australia (Sydney, specifically) is about 16 hours ahead of the Western US, and about 13 hours ahead of the Eastern US.

Australia comprises three time zones of it's own, ranging from 8 to 10 hours ahead of UTC. The US eastern time zone is 5 or 4 hours behind UTC. That would make the date/time in Australia anywhere from 12 to 15 hours later than U.S. Eastern time.
